Spectacular private pool rooms with romantic perks!
We spent two nights in the boutique Seascape Sanur, a small luxury hotel in the Sanur area of South Bali. This hotels is totally perfect for couples, with each room featuring either a large private pool or hot tub. It is worth staying here the night before taking a ferry to Nusa Penida or if you are looking to stay close to the airport before your flight back home. After seeing the raving online reviews we were excited to experience it ourselves.
Our Private Pool Loft
Where to start… we stayed in a massive two-floor loft, with a huge 8 meter long private pool, a private outdoor bath tub, an indoor seating area and a mezzanine floor with King size bed - from which you can see the ocean in the distance. We were welcomed with a refreshing welcome drink and our outdoor bath tub was already decorated in flowers, and there were more flower decorations with a welcome message on our bed. This hotel clearly caters to couples looking for a romantic getaway - all other guests we saw were couples too, and kids aren’t even allowed in the resort. If you book a stay at Seascape Sanur, we suggest making sure to get one of the private pool rooms as they are the best value.
We were treated with afternoon tea with snacks each afternoon. The hotel offered us to switch the restaurant breakfast to a private floating breakfast experience in our pool. That was an unexpected surprise. We enjoyed the breakfast anyway. It is a-la-carte, so it takes some time to prepare, but with some original options to choose from. We loved the Japanese Okonomiyaki. Coffee, tea, juice and a fruit platter are offered alongside.
Many things to do…
It is difficult to get bored here: despite the small size of the resort they offer many things to do, including a sushi making class and cocktail preparing class in the restaurant. We tried both, and were welcomed by super friendly staff that patiently helped us to make our own sushi and cocktails. The experience was very laid-back and fun. More traditional amenities at the hotel include a Massage Spa (more on that below), and a public pool area with sunbeds.
If you do plan to explore the area, it is worth noting that Seascape Sanur is not right on the beach. We suggest staying here for the hotel and amazing rooms, not for the location. The nice beach and town of Sanur is a short drive away, and the coast right in front of the hotel can only be reached by taking a detour along a busy road. The hotel does offer a free shuttle service a few times a day though, and otherwise taxi apps like Grab are easy to use in the area. We used our scooter, and it only took us 5 minutes to reach the nice beach of Sanur.
Seascape also offers the option to book a romantic private candlelight dinner. We opted to have this next to the public pool, and the area was decorated spectacularly. This is a three-course menu, and you can choose from the restaurant menu. We had steak and salmon which were both decent.
Couple Massage at the Svaha Spa
The Svaha Spa is conveniently located on the 3rd floor of Seascape Sanur. The moment we stepped in, we felt the calmness of the space from the warmth of the interior, the aromatic scent, and the welcoming gestures of the staff.
There are many varieties of oils and scrubs to choose from. We were provided with a refreshing cucumber lime welcome drink and a wet towel while we chose our favorite oil (Olivia went for rose, Dirk for Lemongrass). The massage experience felt like we were floating on clouds for 90 minutes. Olivia asked to give extra attention to her back, and the professional therapist adjusted the program to add more pressure in that area.
Afterwards, we were able to enjoy a flower bath with a view overlooking the ocean in the distance. For couples who like to hit refresh and indulge in some serious self-care especially after a long flight or long day exploring, this place is for you! The Svaha Spa can be booked by guests and others, and is very good value for a hotel spa in Bali.
Lunch at Tsune Restaurant
Tsune is the first restaurant with floating sushi in Indonesia. As it is situated on the rooftop of Seascape Sanur, it offers a view over the ocean. On bright days you can even see Nusa Penida island in the distance. We liked the sashimi (we had the Sakura Set) and salmon menta tempura roll. A surprise was the crispy eggplant starter, it matched really well with the accompanied peanut sauce. As dessert, don’t miss out on the jackfruit crème brûlée, we shared one but would not have regretted ordering one for each of us.
Conclusion
If you are a couple on a honeymoon in Bali, we believe enjoying a night or two in Seascape Sanur is a good option, especially at the start or end of your honeymoon as it is near the airport. Seascape Sanur has a lot of things going for it: amazing staff, lovely amenities, a great restaurant and above all spectacular rooms at reasonable prices. Do note that the location of the hotel itself is not too spectacular, but if you don’t mind spending 5-10 minutes to get to a the nice Sanur Beach, definitely stay at Seascape!
