Luxury Beachclub near Uluwatu

Tropical Temptation is a luxury bohemian-styled Beach Club in South Bali. We have visited this beach club on two occasions, and believe there is a lot to like about Tropical Temptation: stunning views overlooking the ocean and cliffs, an artistic vibe with beautiful design, art sculptures and music playing, and excellent food and drinks. In addition, Tropical Temptation is surprisingly affordable compared to other beach clubs!

Tropical Temptation is located on Melasti Beach, a short 20 minute ride away from both Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. Melasti Beach is famous for its spectacular white cliffs towering above the beach and ocean. The beach here has yellow sand and the ocean is beautifully blue. During low tide the sea is very calm, but during high tide the waves can get quite wild and not suitable for swimming. However, Tropical Temptation has 3 different pools that are great for swimming too!

The Venue

After a spectacular road down the cliffs, you will arrive through the top floor of Tropical Temptation, where a large bar is located. Large stairs will take you down to the beach area with pools and beach beds. The whole design of the venue reminds of the style that was made famous in Tulum in Mexico - a rustic design with muted natural tones decorated with contemporary art. A DJ booth with a massive statue towering above it is positioned right above one of the three pools. During the day, the music played here is minimal, instead of the loud EDM played in other beach clubs, adding to the classy vibes.

When booking, we would suggest you choose one of the Lagoon Day Beds. They are positioned right at the pool and have a slightly higher minimum spend requirement than the so-called Sand Day Beds one row behind - but you’ll probably spend that amount anyway (see the chapter on affordability below).

Food & Drinks

To be honest, when we visited we had a little hangover, and we were craving for some healthy food. Most beach clubs don’t have a lot of options in that category, but luckily Tropical Temptation did. We enjoyed tasty sushi rolls, salmon carpaccio, oysters and a delicious must-try desert of Durian Panna Cotta. We started our day with some mocktails, of which the Lychee Ginger Cooler was our favorite. Later we switched to alcohol, and the Whole Coconut Mojito is a fun drink to order. Its a Mojito, but mixed with coconut water and served in an actual real coconut.

Affordable (for a Beach Club)

All beach clubs in Bali are pricey, but Tropical Temptation is relatively affordable compared to others. When we visited in April 2024, the best day beds (Lagoon Day Beds) required a minimum spend of 1.5 million Rupia as a couple in total, or roughly 95 USD. This minimum spend was enough for us to enjoy multiple drinks and 4 or 5 dishes for sharing (think sushi rolls, oysters, nachos). The second row of day beds would have been around 30% cheaper, but if you enjoy the whole day here you’ll probably order enough drinks and food that you may as well book the Lagoon Day Beds.

First row of beds is positioned in the pool. The second row is in the sand just behind it and has a lower minimum spend. There are other seating options too, like on the second floor. Events

We have not experienced this ourselves, but every friday night there are events hosted at Tropical Temptation. Often these parties start before sunset and last till midnight, with live DJs playing music. Check out the event calendar on their website for the latest information.

Hi! We have put together this guide with a lot of care, based on our own experiences. As a couple, we have lived in Bali for the past 5 years, and we fell in love with the island. We have visited every corner of Bali, especially the romantic places ;-). While our articles do contain affiliate links, you can trust us to recommend only the experiences that we love.
